High mountain meadow in foreground with a pocket of pines, and snowdrifts above timberline in background. These high meadow vegetation is very similiar to the tundra in the far north in Canada and Alaska.

  1. Many times in early mornings and just before sundown, deer and elk can be seen feeding in the meadows. They are generally near the edges where they can slip back into the timber in surprized by predators or vehicles.
