Marsh peak is the snow covered peak in upper left corner of photo. Below it on the south side of Dry Fork canyon is Sawtooth ridge. Sawtooth ridge can be seen from beyond the Green river and was a landmark used by early travelers. When the photo is clicked on and magnified you can see why it is called Sawtooth as the top of the ridge looks like the teeth of a saw.
Canyon in top center of photo is canyon where Matt Warner and his mining partner were ambushed by 3 men. Warner returned fire killing 2 and wounding the 3rd man. Matt was arrested and sent to prison for defending myself and partner. He states that he was guilty of many crimes but he was sent to prison for killing the men that ambushed he and his partner. He was later pardoned by Utah's governor. Matt lived out his last days in Price, Utah and died in late 1930s. Matt was a Justice of Peace in that area. He told his life story to Murry E. King and who wrote a book titled Last of the Bandit Riders. It is a very good read for someone interested in western history.
