Valley at the head of Deep Creek as seen from the dugway coming down off Pine ridge. This photo shows part of the area that was once the Throughbred Ranch. It was purchased by a local gentleman who wanted to blooded race horses. He thought the name of the ranch would go well with his horses. After he bought the ranch he found out that the Throughbred ranch was a sheep ranch and was named after the selective breeding of sheep on the ranch. This owner has built a bueatiful log home on the hill near the center of photo. A race track can be seen on the slope this side of and to the right of the house. Ranch headquarters can be seen in the distance to the left of hill on which is located his home. In the foreground fields have been cleared and circular sprinklers irrigate the pastures. I have seen as many 150 elk feeding in these pastures.

On the extreme right of the photo a canyon comes down from the top of Lake mountain. It is in this canyon that the cabin described in Dean Reynolds stories is located. Most of the Reynolds ranch was purchased by the gentleman that bought the Throughbred ranch.
